Subject: Traditional Medical relationships between Fertility, Gestation, Conception and Enlightenment in Chinese Buddhism
In Chinese Medicine (TCM), the womb called Bao Gong it is a extraordinary fu organ called the "Palace of the Child" or the "Fetal Palace". In Chinese Medicine the uterus it is not viewed as a seperate organ but as for its function it governs menstruation, fertility, and emotional stability and wellness. It is part of a network that connects the Heart (Shen), Kidneys essence (Tian Giu) therefor the Mind the drive and the Spirit, called the Bao Mai Meridian. It deeply relies on the Kidneys for vital essence (Jing) and the Heart for the blood circulation and mental harmony.
Because the Heart houses the mind and the kidneys give it roots to cognitive reason, when over strained, overworked or emotionally stressed will cause anxiety, or trauma can easily disrupt the womb, leading to cycle irregularities or fertility challenges. This physical Yin or feminine concept was later adopted by Chinese Buddhism particularly Chan as the way for Men or Yang natured beings to foster Spiritually the gestation, birth and continued continuity of awakening of enlightenment called Shengtai.
Dedication of Merit
Dedication of Merit We close our daily practices by sending goodwill out into the wider world, echoing the ultimate aspiration of our community: May the merit and virtues accrued from this work adorn the Buddha's Pure Land, repaying the four kinds of kindness above and relieving the suffering of those in the paths below. May those who see and hear of this bring forth a heart of deep understanding, living the teachings in ultimate bliss.
